Bizet Celebration - Nostalgia V
George Bizet died 150 years ago without having experienced the huge success of his Carmen - today the most-performed opera in the world. To commemorate his death, a great evening of French music is now taking place with the Musiciens du Louvre under Marc Minkowski. The focus will be on the celebrated French-Swiss mezzo-soprano Marina Viotti, who was named "Lyric Artist of the Year" at last year's Victoires de la Musique and performed at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Paris, and the French tenor Quentin Desgeorges. The program offers the most beautiful arias and duets from Carmen, but also lesser-known works such as La Jolie Fille de Perth, Djamileh, Les Pêcheurs de Perles and L'Arlésienne. Both of the beautiful L'Arlésienne orchestral suites are presented by Minkowski in full length.
