Marisol - Talk concert for the special exhibition
The combination of music and art at the Kunsthaus Zürich
"The first girl artist with glamour" is how Andy Warhol described the sculptor, painter and object artist, who died in 2016, in an interview with the New York Times
Marisol. The statement by the pop artist and long-time professional companion of Marisol is paradigmatic of the stereotype-based reception that the artist experienced, especially during her heyday in the 1960s, but also up to the present day.
But who is Marisol? Her oscillation between the New York glamor and pop art scene and multiple consciously chosen time-outs are still fascinating today. After her popularity rapidly declined from the mid-1970s, she has now been almost completely forgotten. In a discussion concert with curator Sandra Gianfreda, the Zurich Chamber Orchestra adds a musical dimension to the exhibition and creates an audible connection to the former pop icon Marisol.
