PASTORALE - A bridge between tradition and modernity

The concert program combines the timeless beauty of Beethoven's Symphony No. 6 "Pastorale" with the innovative power of contemporary Swiss compositions. Beethoven's masterpiece, a musical portrait of rural life, reflects the proximity to folk music and forms the perfect bridge to the works of Reto Stadelmann and Oliver Waespi.

Stadelmann's "Yodel Serenade" for mezzo-soprano and strings brings the sound world of Swiss folk music into the present in a fascinating way. Waespi's world premiere of "Vision d'exil" for mezzo-soprano, male choir and orchestra draws in particular on folk songs from Fribourg and shows how folk music can serve as a source of inspiration for modern soundscapes.

With the mezzo-soprano Barbara Klossner alias Miss Helvetia and the renowned Choeur des Armaillis de la Gruyère, this project will be an extraordinary experience.
