The evening opens with three minuets by Giacomo Puccini - originally
intended for string quartet, in the orchestral version by Matthias Arter fine
illuminated. Out of this chamber music gesture grows a large-scale
matic dialog: Anastasia Kobekina, one of the most sought-after cellists of her
generation, leads through Tchaikovsky's Rococo Variations with a light hand,
clear line and noticeable joy of playing.
After the interval, Brahms’ Hungarian Dances in a version introduced by Kobekina.

their warm, independent sound: the special instrumentation without violins
