The opening concert shows the infinite facets of the theme: the only chamber music work by the symphonic composer Anton Bruckner with its wonderfully broad, generous use of time finds its antithesis in the «Bagatelles» by Anton Webern, which last barely a minute in their concentration.
A counterpoint from Bach's «Art of Fugue» and a fantasy by Henry Purcell mediate between these extremes. With the Pacific Quartet Vienna, we are continuing the series of renowned string quartets at the Musiksommer. This ensemble connects cultures, traditions and geographical areas
at the highest level.
