Mundus inversus
Is the order of the world always fixed? Are top and bottom unchangeable? Does time always move in the same direction? The program of the young ensemble Basilisk makes us doubt this, or rather: allows us to take part in the pleasurable mind games of medieval composers and authors.
This tonal journey - from mockery to mysticism - opens up an entire hall of mirrors of reversals. In this world in which everything wavers, in which folly reveals wisdom and death celebrates life, medieval art reveals its deepest modernity: a view that is at once critical, playful and deeply human.
This concert was created in collaboration with the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, one of the world's leading centers for the performance practice of early music.
