«Unisono»: cinema preview in Basel
The documentary «Unisono - Von der Liebe zur Musik» by Georges Gachot about the Aargau Youth Symphony Orchestra will be shown for the first time in Basel on April 26, 2026.

On Sunday, April 26, 2026, at 12 noon, Kinokoni Basel (Steinenvorstadt 36) will be showing a preview of the documentary film Unisono - From the love of music by Georges Gachot. The event takes place as part of the Offbeat festivals at which Finnish jazz pianist Iiro Rantala - one of the film's protagonists - will perform. After the screening, director Georges Gachot and Urs Blindenbacher from the Offbeat Festival will talk to the audience.
The film accompanies the Aargau Youth Symphony Orchestra under conductor Hugo Bollschweiler during intensive rehearsals. It shows young Swiss musicians at work and grappling with the question of how classical music should be played today. Iiro Rantala introduces the ensemble to the world of improvisation. The program ranges from the Romanticism of Dvořák to the works of Górecki and Rantala's own piano concerto The Best of Beethoven, which combines jazz, tango and humor with Beethoven's themes.
Gachot is known for his music films, including the 2002 Martha Argerich, conversation nocturne. Unison belonged to the Solothurn Film Festival 2026 is one of the most talked about films. The regular theatrical release in Switzerland is planned for the end of August 2026.
