CHAMBER MUSIC WEEK / TriOlogy String Trio
The TriOlogie ensemble dedicates its program to a genre that is comparatively rare in the concert world, but at the same time particularly fascinating: the string trio.
At the center of the evening are three works that impressively illuminate the stylistic and tonal diversity of this formation.
Ludwig van Beethoven's String Trio in D major op. 9 no. 2 represents the classical mastery of the genre and impresses with its formal clarity, Viennese elegance and dense, almost symphonic structure. This is contrasted by the String Trio No. 1 op. 25 by Adolphe Blanc, a French composer who is rarely played today and whose music impresses with its elegance, melodic freshness and finely balanced voice leading. The string trio by Jean Cras is a special discovery: the French officer and composer created a work of great atmospheric density that combines impressionistic timbres with late-romantic harmonies.
