Glenn Miller Orchestra – Swinging Christmas

Under the direction of Uli Plettendorff, the trombonist and new bandleader of the Glenn Miller Orchestra, the program features festive classics and the greatest hits of the «40s and »50s. From the very first note, you can feel the momentum, energy, and zest for life that make swing so distinctive. The orchestra shapes the evening with elegance and a charming touch of whimsy. Pieces like «Moonlight Serenade,» «It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year,» «Flying Home,» and “A String of Pearls” bring the classic big-band sound to life. The combination of saxophones, clarinets, trumpets, trombones, bass, drums, and piano creates a rich sound that has captivated generations. Uli Plettendorff knows Glenn Miller’s music inside and out. Even as a student, he played in Wil Salden’s The World Famous Glenn Miller Orchestra. For nearly four decades, this orchestra has been carrying the musical legacy of the legendary bandleader to Europe’s major concert halls. Since 2024, Uli Plettendorff has been passionately carrying on the tradition of this unique orchestra. Each song evokes its own mood: sometimes rhythmic and rousing, sometimes elegant and soulful, always characterized by precision and attention to detail.
