Maria Lassnig & Edvard Munch

A Concert with a Talk Accompanying the Special Exhibition at the Kunsthaus Zürich

Even though Maria Lassnig (1919–2014) and Edvard Munch (1863–1944) were separated by more than half a century, there are striking parallels between their works and biographies. The exhibition’s subtitle, «Malfluss = Lebensfluss» (Flow of Painting = Flow of Life), is taken from a painting by Maria Lassnig. It illustrates the inseparable connection between art and life.
A connection that is also very much applicable to music. Just as in painting, music succeeds in giving expression to the most diverse levels of perception—both emotional and physical.

The concert with discussion begins with a visit to the special exhibition—ideally right before the concert. That way, the impressions are still fresh and blend seamlessly with the concert program. Woven into the program, art enthusiasts will learn a wealth of fascinating and informative details about the exhibition and the works being performed during a conversation between the ZKO’s artistic director, Franziska Frey, and curator Dr. Sandra Gianfreda.

The ticket includes admission to the special exhibition on the day of the concert (10 a.m. until the concert begins).

In cooperation with the Kunsthaus Zürich.
