“Taximi” – The World of Rembetiko
“Taximi” is the Greek word for improvisation. It came to Greece about a hundred years ago along with Greek refugees from Turkish Asia Minor. Since then, in rembetiko—the Greek blues—it has come to signify free, plaintive, or wild improvisation.
