Songs of Creation and Decay

On Friday, November 13, 2026, at 7:30 p.m., the Cantabile Choir of Pratteln will perform two works at the Catholic Church in Muttenz under the direction of Bernhard Dittmann: Gabriel Fauré’s Requiem and the new choral work «Carmina Mundi» by Thomas Fortmann. Between the two parts of the concert, Prof. Reinhold Bernhardt, professor emeritus of Systematic Theology and Dogmatics at the University of Basel, will discuss the commonalities among religions.
«Carmina Mundi» sets mystical texts from the world's major religions to music in seven movements, blending their musical scales and rhythms with Fortmann's own musical language. The concert brings together music, spirituality, and interfaith dialogue.
