A pattern repeated to an imagined eternity is gradually experienced,
often at first barely noticeable modifications, is superimposed, shifts: a magical sound experience in the early works of Steve Reich.

And starting from the Bronx in New York, an African-American art form between avant-garde, experiment and storytelling conquered the world,
which also relies on the magic of sampling and looping: hip-hop.
In collaboration with the Zurich-based guerillaclassics association, the music summer explores unexpected kindred spirits. Dmitry Smirnov, our Artist in Residence 2023, plays Steve Reich's «Violin Phase» with himself, while Lausanne DJ and producer Sebb Bash, who has been in international demand since the 1990s and was awarded the Swiss Music Prize in 2019, receives carte blanche.
