Annelien Van Wauwe & Marzena Diakun
Curtain up for the clarinet!
What do Grażyna Bacewicz, Leonard Bernstein, Philip Glass, Aaron Copland and Krzysztof Penderecki have in common? They were all taught by Nadia Boulanger. The composer, conductor and musician is considered the greatest music teacher and most influential composition teacher of the 20th century thanks to her exceptional knowledge and her powerful and timelessly modern way of thinking. Five former pupils of Nadia Boulanger will be heard in concert with the successful Belgian-Flemish clarinettist Annelien Van Wauwe and the Polish conductor Marzena Diakun. These include the popular Clarinet Concerto by Aaron Copland and the early Clarinet Sonata by Leonard Bernstein, in an arrangement for clarinet and strings.
Melt away to the virtuoso playing of clarinettist Annelien Van Wauwe, which the Süddeutsche Zeitung describes as smooth, full of warmth and brilliantly colorful.
