Anno 1300 in the Kleine Klingental

🐌 How did people live, celebrate and make music in the Middle Ages?
What did a festival sound like 700 years ago? What stories were told, what songs were sung on the Rhine?

On the banks of the Rhine in Kleinbasel, we embark on a lively journey through time into the past of our city.
With music from the Basel song manuscript, historical stories, scents and colors, Swiss cultural heritage can be experienced in a playful way.
Our aim is to bring history to life where it originated - in the heart of Basel.

🐌 The occasion? A celebration!

We are celebrating the christening of Ensemble RESONEZ's first CD - freshly released on the Schweizer Fonogramm label and now available worldwide.

Look forward to a colorful afternoon with themed workshops, culinary insights and short voyages of discovery through medieval Basel.
The festive highlight is the concert by the RESONEZ ensemble.

The event will be hosted by Graziella Contratto, founder and producer of Schweizer Fonogramm, who will provide fascinating insights behind the scenes of CD production.

🐌 Program (all suitable for families):

14-15h Singing & dancing together:
We learn a song from the Basel song manuscript and bring it to life together. Music is not only heard here, but experienced and danced to!

15-17h Workshops and guided tour, offered in parallel:

✒️ The alphabet of the Basel song manuscript: Pick up your own pen in the calligraphy studio and create medieval letters with Eléonore Bernard.
🌿 In the herb kitchen: sourdough and medieval hummus: simple recipes and surprising flavors from times gone by, with Derya Sahin.
🐉 Guessing quiz and creative painting: Discover basilisks, dragons and other wonder animals and bring them to life yourself artistically, with Séverine Christen.
🚶‍♀️ Along the Rhine to the Charterhouse and back: a guided walk through old Basel with exciting stories and historical traces, with Rose Marie Schulz-Rehberg.
17.30h Concert O Amor et Sublimitas, moderated by Graziella Contratto

The RESONEZ ensemble presents medieval chants from Swiss sources, including manuscripts from Basel, Lausanne and Fribourg.
Floating harmonies and haunting melodies tell of love and transcendence, of inner collection and joyful liveliness.
Under the gaze of the gargoyles of Basel Cathedral, an intense concert experience is created in the medieval Museum Kleines Klingental, which combines historical depth with an immediate sound presence and allows the music of the Middle Ages to shine in a new light.
