Boswil Master Concert - Marina Viotti & Jan Schultsz

The whole of Vienna is in Rossini fever in 1817: his melodies can be heard everywhere and even the sparrows seem to be whistling his arias from the rooftops. A new generation of composers was also inspired by his lively style, including the young Franz Schubert, five years younger than Rossini. He ventured into overtures in the Italian style, but remained unmistakably true to his own tonal language. It is often said that the Viennese Rossini boom stood in the way of Schubert's operatic career. Perhaps this was the case; his stage works were indeed neglected for a long time and only rediscovered in recent decades. But what a treasure trove of melodies was revealed! Mezzo-soprano Marina Viotti presents an exciting program that juxtaposes Rossini's and Schubert's songs. Viotti, recently known from the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Paris, will be accompanied by Jan Schultsz on the piano. An evening full of discoveries - let yourself be surprised!
