At the center is the motif of wandering: Dvořák's «Songs my mother taught
me» or Mahler's «Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen» tell of origins
and departure; Strauss’ «Morgen» of silent arrival, Catalan folk songs
like «Rossinyol que vas a França» about being on the move between countries.
Berio's «I wonder as I wander» summarizes all these movements as a poetic guiding principle.
