Music for an Open Space
With apparent ease and impressive physical presence, Ania Losinger steers her raft "Xala" through the world of tones and sounds. The flow of music is driven forward by Mats Eser with his five-octave marimba, drums and Asian gongs. Their joint composition leads to wide, open spaces. The result is a dynamic between fast grooves and floating, meditative calm; an arc spans from "sounds beyond all styles" to highly aesthetic images that make you forget time and space: "Music for an Open Space"!
The Xala is a unique, danceable instrument. A magical body of sound with which Ania Losinger has created a fascinating synthesis of music and dance. The music and dance performer makes this predominantly acoustic sound object resound with flamenco shoes and two human-sized sticks.
