In the sound of Beethoven and Mendelssohn, emblematic figures of the Germanic tradition, a veritable musical pentecost is revealed, in which festive intensity and exquisite delicacy are combined. L'adagio de la symphonie de Beethoven, which, according to Berlioz, "surpasses everything that the most vivid imagination can ever dream of, of tendresse et de pure volupté", mêle harmonieusement au souffle jubilatoire insufflé par Mendelssohn. Sous le ciel d'une Italie rêvée, ce dernier convie la musique à danser en saltarello, alliant douceur enivrante et séduction des rythmes méridionaux.
