Robert Oboussier - Anniversary celebration with concert and reading

To mark the 125th birthday of the Swiss composer Robert Oboussier, who was murdered in 1957, the first CD release of his music and a book publication with contributions from various authors will appear in summer 2025, in which Oboussier's music, biography and tragic afterlife are examined from different angles.

Oboussier's music will be performed at five anniversary events in the fall of 2025 and various guests will talk about its history and significance. Robert Oboussier was a key figure in New Music. He was not only a composer known throughout Europe, but also Vice Director of SUISA and Director of the Swiss Music Archive.

It is the first project to publicize Oboussier's historically important story from today's perspective, together with the musically significant compositions from the period before, during and after the Second World War. In the anniversary year, the taboo surrounding the politically and media-motivated scandal that caused Robert Oboussier and his work to be forgotten is to be broken. The music will be made accessible again and the previously concealed history will be discussed in public. The compositions are valuable carriers of history that should not be forgotten and, above all, should no longer be kept secret.
