End of the season with Regula Mühlemann and Daniel Hope

Vocal flights of fancy and passionate violin sounds

The Swiss soprano Regula Mühlemann is now conquering international concert halls. Now she can be heard on stage for the first time with Daniel Hope and the Zurich Chamber Orchestra.

To mark the festive end of the season, the orchestra will perform a program that includes the most beautiful Mozart arias as well as songs by the Lili and Nadia Boulanger siblings. In the second half of the program, the orchestra then bids farewell to the summer break with Joseph Haydn's Funeral Symphony. The work was composed around 1770 and is one of the five symphonies from this period in which Haydn used minor keys for the first time. The name goes back to a dubious tradition according to which Haydn once expressed the wish that the Largo of this very symphony should be played at his funeral. In its tension and passion, the Funeral Symphony is exemplary of this aesthetic phase of upheaval in Haydn's music.
