Süddeutsche Theater in lockdown
Baden-Württemberg extends corona measures. This means renewed closures for the state theaters in Stuttgart and Karlsruhe, among others. The Festspielhaus Baden-Baden is also canceling the replacement Easter Festival. The Saarland State Theatre also has to close again.

A nightmare has come true, writes the Saarländisches Staatstheater: after briefly looking forward to the reopening on April 8 and six successful premieres, it unfortunately has to announce that it will have to close its doors to the public again from Saturday, April 24, 2021. The amended Infection Protection Act and the associated "federal emergency brake" are forcing it to take this drastic step. Instead of regular performances, the Staatstheater Stuttgart will only offer digital performances and "Poems on the Phone".
The Festspielhaus Baden-Baden is canceling its public events for the month of May. The current state ordinance initially prohibits performances until May 16, 2021, which means that the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra's planned residency from May 6 to 9 cannot take place. Furthermore, the 2021 Whitsun Festival (May 13-24) in Baden-Baden will also not be able to take place, as the lead time for the festival would be too short.
