In addition to a total prize money of 25,000 Swiss francs, the concept also provides concert placement for three years for the winning ensembles. With this targeted support, the winning ensembles of the first competition in 2023 have been supported in over 80 concerts throughout Switzerland to date. The sponsoring association is the Förderkreis Kammermusik Schweiz (FKMS) in collaboration with the Paul-Juon-Gesellschaft, and the venue is the Kunsthalle Appenzell.

«As a teacher of the Zeitgeist Ensemble, I cannot thank you enough for this wonderful initiative and support for the young ensembles in Switzerland! What a pearl this Juon competition is!» With these words, Anton Kernjak expresses his appreciation for the competition's commitment. Artistic Director Martin Lucas Staub is also delighted. The support of the winning ensembles at so many concert appearances shows the sustainability of the concept, which has been enthusiastically received by the concert organizers and their audiences.

The «Paul Juon Chamber Music Competition» pursues several objectives: The sustainable promotion of young Swiss chamber ensembles, the financial support of ensembles and concert organizers as part of the three-year concert placement and the promotion of Paul Juon's great chamber music.

The second edition of the competition in fall 2026 will be based on the tried-and-tested concept: ensembles from trio to sextet are eligible to perform a work by Swiss composer Paul Juon in addition to two freely selectable works. The jury is primarily looking for chamber ensembles with great creative power and stage presence. The prizewinners' concert will take place on November 22, 2026 at 5 pm in the Kunsthalle Appenzell.
