He loves Ballerina, she rejects him, he dies\u2014and his death moves us, because we know he existed. What remains is his fractured identity, that of a being halfway between an object and a conscious being. At what point does a puppet cease to be a puppet?<br \/>\nJust as Petrouchka moved from sawdust toward humanity, Romeo and Juliet move from flesh to myth.
