{"id":75239,"date":"2026-08-31T10:56:47","date_gmt":"2026-08-31T08:56:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.musikzeitung.ch\/?post_type=kalender&#038;p=75239"},"modified":"2026-08-31T10:56:47","modified_gmt":"2026-08-31T08:56:47","slug":"daniel-hope-spielt-piazzolla","status":"publish","type":"kalender","link":"https:\/\/www.musikzeitung.ch\/en\/kalender\/daniel-hope-spielt-piazzolla","title":{"rendered":"Daniel Hope Plays Piazzolla"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires<\/p>\n<p>Alongside Antonio Vivaldi\u2019s masterpiece, they are undoubtedly among the best-known \u00abFour Seasons\u00bb: the *cuatro estaciones porte\u00f1as*, composed in the mid-1960s by the great tango innovator Astor Piazzolla. In these four sensual mood pieces inspired by Buenos Aires, the birthplace of tango, Piazzolla captures melancholy and nostalgia just as masterfully as he does the pulsating street life, the austere elegance, and that feverish, nocturnal atmosphere of the port city. In his arrangement of the tango suite for violin and string orchestra, Leonid Desyatnikov deliberately allowed Vivaldi\u2019s influence to shine through, thereby creating a sophisticated echo of the Baroque classic. A lyrical contrast to this is provided by the northern soundscapes of Max Bruch\u2019s Serenade on Swedish Melodies, which exudes a rural, song-like simplicity, as well as Carl Nielsen\u2019s Little Suite, Op. 1, whose fresh rhythms, clear forms, and folk-inspired immediacy hold a special charm.
