He has been organizing jazz concerts since 1966 and founded the Jazz Festival in Willisau in 1975. He was awarded the Central Switzerland Culture Prize in 1982.<\/p>\n<p>By choosing Niklaus Troxler, the cantonal government is honoring his life's work as a graphic artist of international standing: in this capacity, he has fascinated and inspired generations of art lovers. The award is also in recognition of his services to the cultural identity of the Canton of Lucerne, which he helped to shape as the father of the Willisau Jazz Festival.
