Perry is considered one of the most influential personalities in the development of reggae and ska. As a producer, he played a decisive role in shaping Bob Marley's sound, but parted ways with him before Marley embarked on his global career. In the 1970s, Perry built an eccentric studio in Jamaica, the Black Ark Studio, which burned down in 1979.<\/p>\n

In 1989, he married the Swiss woman Mireille Campbell. The couple had two children and lived in Einsiedeln in the canton of Schwyz for around thirty years. They only moved back to Jamaica last year. Perry also set up a studio in Switzerland, the Secret Laboratory, which was also damaged by a fire in 2015.<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
