According to the federal government's press release, it is already foreseeable that the number of cases will not fall significantly and sustainably in the coming weeks. The Federal Council therefore assumes that the measures adopted on December 18, 2020 will have to remain in place beyond January 22, 2021.<\/p>\n

It proposes extending the closure of restaurants and cultural, sports and leisure facilities by five weeks until the end of February. This is intended to create planning security for the businesses and employees affected. After consulting the cantons, the Federal Council will make a final decision on the extension and its duration at its meeting on January 13. The Federal Council will also decide on further measures to cushion the economic impact on January 13.<\/p>\n
