It retains the original sound, but reduces the wind section to a quintet for reasons of balance.<\/p>\n<div class=\"text-section\">\n<dl class=\"picture media photo\">\n<dt><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"media photo aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.musikzeitung.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/06_crit_note_Chor_kleine_Besetzung1.png\" alt=\"Image \" \/><\/dt>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"text-section\">\n<p>The Doblinger publishing house in Vienna is taking a different approach, having recently published three magnificent Brahms works in \"chamber versions\": <em>Nanie<\/em>which <em>Alto rhapsody<\/em> and the <em>Song of Destiny<\/em>. Urs St\u00e4uble has created intelligent arrangements for string quintet and flute, which contain all the important musical elements in a sophisticated way, even if the smaller instrumentation reduces the spectrum of instrumental timbres. For example, haunting timpani passages are excellently replaced by the pizzicato of the cello in the lower register.
