Come produttore, ha avuto un ruolo decisivo nel plasmare il suono di Bob Marley, ma si \u00e8 separato da lui prima che Marley intraprendesse la sua carriera globale. Negli anni '70, Perry costru\u00ec un eccentrico studio in Giamaica, il Black Ark Studio, che and\u00f2 a fuoco nel 1979.<\/p>\n<p>Nel 1989 ha sposato la svizzera Mireille Campbell. La coppia ha avuto due figli e ha vissuto per circa trent'anni a Einsiedeln, nel cantone di Svitto. Si sono trasferiti in Giamaica solo l'anno scorso.
