Un recensore la trov\u00f2 \"<em>come il cinese<\/em>\", anche se \u00e8 stato riconosciuto che il momento potrebbe ancora arrivare \"<em>in cui ci\u00f2 che a prima vista appariva torbido e confuso viene riconosciuto con chiarezza e in forme gradevoli<\/em>\". In ogni caso, l'editore viennese di Beethoven, Mathias Artaria, non volle aspettare cos\u00ec a lungo e si rivolse al compositore con la richiesta di sostituire la fuga con un altro movimento pi\u00f9 convenzionale (un rond\u00f2 esteso alla fine). Ci vollero un po' di persuasione e un supplemento di prezzo prima che Beethoven accettasse con riluttanza la richiesta. Karl Holz, violoncellista del quartetto, ricord\u00f2 in seguito: \"<em>Ha pensato molto <\/em>sul giunto <em>e poteva essere persuaso solo con difficolt\u00e0 a<\/em> dal quartetto d'archi <em>separare<\/em>.\"<\/p>\n<p>Il nome abituale di questa frase indubbiamente mostruosa \u00e8 ingannevole: Il <em>Giunto grande<\/em> non \u00e8 una composizione nel senso dello stile antico n\u00e9 del tipo che Beethoven aveva gi\u00e0 composto a Bonn durante le sue lezioni con Christian Gottlob Neefe nella scuola di Johann Sebastian Bach. <em>Pianoforte ben temperato<\/em> aveva studiato. A parte le notevoli difficolt\u00e0 tecniche, si tratta di un'evoluzione radicale e rivoluzionaria, tanto che Beethoven poteva a ragione affermare che l'opera era \"un'opera di successo\".<em>tant\u00f4t libre tant\u00f4t recherch\u00e9e<\/em>\" (a volte libero e a volte legato). Igor Stravinskij lo considerava addirittura \"<em>un brano musicale assolutamente contemporaneo che sar\u00e0 per sempre contemporaneo<\/em>\".<\/p>\n<p>Dopo la decisione di pubblicare la fuga separatamente come op. 133, anche Mathias Artaria si rivolse a Beethoven per una versione per pianoforte a quattro mani, ma egli inizialmente non era disposto ad accettare ci\u00f2 che considerava di natura pi\u00f9 tecnica. Tuttavia, Beethoven era talmente insoddisfatto di un arrangiamento fatto da Anton Halm con poco preavviso che ne realizz\u00f2 lui stesso una versione indipendente con un numero d'opus separato, formulando le sue richieste all'editore nel suo manoscritto con alcune note per met\u00e0 scherzose e per met\u00e0 serie: \"<em>1=dieci \/ Penale <\/em>Pena<em> composto \/ di 2 ClementiKlav<\/em>i<em>e 3 squisite \/ impressioni del ritratto \/ di L. v. Beethoven \/ 2=primo, un bel \/ per questo \/ e quello cos\u00ec come \/ altro \/ 3=terzo, il M.
