Le ragioni sono molteplici: nel XX secolo sono state spesso le circostanze politiche a farle cadere nel dimenticatoio, prima di allora hanno giocato i fattori pi\u00f9 disparati: uno scarso successo iniziale, una strumentazione insolita, un testo non riuscito... Quando queste partiture vengono inaspettatamente ritrovate o vengono eseguite di nuovo dopo decenni, si parla spesso di una composizione \"ingiustamente dimenticata\". Ma se poi entrer\u00e0 nel repertorio o almeno sar\u00e0 generalmente riconosciuta, \u00e8 tutto da vedere. Sorge sempre una domanda eretica: Non esistono anche composizioni \"ingiustamente dimenticate\", come opere giovanili troppo precoci o addirittura musica occasionale?<\/p>\n<p>In ogni caso, i meccanismi del repertorio non funzionano secondo regole fisse. Questo \u00e8 anche il caso di Beethoven e della sua ricca opera, non tutta conosciuta allo stesso modo, anzi: c'\u00e8 ancora molto da scoprire. Cos\u00ec anche il <em>Cantata sulla morte dell'imperatore Giuseppe II.<\/em> WoO 87 (1790), un'opera commissionata dalla Bonner Lese- und Erholungsgesellschaft (che, per inciso, esiste ancora oggi e dal 2019 ammette anche le donne come membri). I vecchi verbali del Comitato esecutivo contengono la proposta che <em>\"eseguire qualcosa di musicale prima o dopo il discorso\".<\/em> doveva essere eseguita. Tuttavia, la cantata non fu mai eseguita. Come \u00e8 stato detto in seguito: <em>\"per diversi motivi\"<\/em>Forse Beethoven aveva progettato l'opera in modo troppo esteso (con un tempo di esecuzione di poco meno di tre quarti d'ora), forse fu completata troppo tardi (c'erano solo tre settimane tra la commissione e la cerimonia commemorativa del 19 marzo), e l'Elettore Massimiliano, fratello del defunto e Prorettore della Societ\u00e0, aveva chiesto un'ora di silenzio nel senso di un servizio funebre.<\/p>\n<p>L'autografo di Beethoven and\u00f2 perduto senza essere suonato. Una copia riapparve solo nel 1884 e la cantata fu eseguita per la prima volta in un concerto organizzato dalla Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde di Vienna su proposta di Eduard Hanslick. Da allora ha condotto un'esistenza oscura. - Giustamente? Certamente no, perch\u00e9 qui si pu\u00f2 gi\u00e0 ascoltare molto del Beethoven successivo.
