Per quale altro strumento poteva essere stata scritta nel 1817\/18? In realt\u00e0, esso risale al frontespizio della prima edizione viennese del 1819, per la quale lo stesso Beethoven non voleva pi\u00f9 tollerare la tradizionale partitura italiana: \".<em>... che al posto di piano-forte, Hammerklawier sar\u00e0 usato in tutte le nostre opere il cui titolo \u00e8 tedesco.<\/em>\"I posteri non si accorsero o non vollero accorgersi che la Sonata in la maggiore op. 101 era gi\u00e0 apparsa a stampa due anni prima con questa indicazione. Tuttavia, \u00e8 anche possibile che l'uso dell'epiteto rifletta il rispetto per un'opera che per molto tempo \u00e8 stata considerata inascoltabile a causa delle sue esigenze tecniche e della sua dimensione formale espansiva - o, per dirla con Daniel Barenboim: \"<em>La Sonata Hammerklavier non diventa pi\u00f9 facile se non la si suona.<\/em>\"<\/p>\n<p>A ci\u00f2 contribu\u00ec senza dubbio l'incomprensibile marcatura metronomica del primo movimento (mezza nota = 138), che raddoppierebbe il tempo prescritto nella lettura abituale (un'incisione di Artur Schnabel del 1935 dimostra l'assurdit\u00e0 musicale di una simile realizzazione, ma un saggio di Johann Sonnleitner nella nuova edizione della Wiener Urtext Edition, che vale la pena di leggere, fa maggiore chiarezza sulla questione). In ogni caso, Franz Liszt riteneva ancora che l'esecuzione dell'intera sonata \"<em>impiegare quasi un'ora<\/em>\"L'interpretazione di Glenn Gould, piuttosto ponderata, ha richiesto quasi 50 minuti. La monumentalit\u00e0 finora inaudita associata a questo tempo di esecuzione era, ovviamente, qualcosa che Beethoven aveva in mente fin dall'inizio: \"<em>Ora sto scrivendo una sonata che sar\u00e0 la mia pi\u00f9 grande<\/em>\" (come riferisce il suo allievo Carl Czerny). Tra l'altro, la sonorit\u00e0 dell'opera, che supera di gran lunga le possibilit\u00e0 dello strumento, spinse Felix Weingartner a scriverne una versione per grande orchestra nel 1925\/26.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<hr \/>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"text-section\">\n<p><em>SMZ<\/em> - Questa nuova edizione della sonata \u00e8 stata pubblicata dalla Wiener Urtext Edition con il numero UT 50432.
