Il mondo della musica si \u00e8 confrontato con questa idea per quasi due secoli. L'attribuzione di dubbio patriottismo gli \u00e8 stata data dalle societ\u00e0 di canto svizzere, creando un'immagine del vivace N\u00e4geli che non regge a un esame serio. Da molti anni si attende una biografia, una correzione a questa rappresentazione unilaterale e non veritiera del \"pioniere in tutti i vicoli\".<\/p>\n<p>Nell'ambito di un progetto della National Science Foundation, la giovane musicologa Miriam Roner si \u00e8 assunta il compito quasi impossibile di far luce sull'oscurit\u00e0. La sua tesi di laurea, accettata dall'Universit\u00e0 di Berna nel 2016, \u00e8 stata ora accuratamente rivista e pubblicata in un libro di oltre quattrocento pagine. Dopo una breve lettura, appare chiaro il compito mastodontico che si nasconde dietro di essa, perch\u00e9 a parte alcuni articoli lessicali e pubblicazioni commemorative, non esiste nulla di completo su N\u00e4geli.<\/p>\n<p>Roner non presenta una biografia, ma mostra in modo impressionante quanti matrimoni N\u00e4geli abbia ballato: Fu editore, gest\u00ec una biblioteca (di prestito) musicale, compose musica popolare, fond\u00f2 e diresse un istituto di canto che doveva contribuire all'istruzione secondo le regole pestalozziane e che dava anche la possibilit\u00e0 alle ragazze e alle donne di partecipare.<\/p>\n<p>Questa diversit\u00e0 dimostra da sola la completezza del pensiero di N\u00e4geli. Roner cerca di capire come funzionava il \"sistema N\u00e4geli\" in questa selva. Intorno al 1800 non esistevano canali di distribuzione, n\u00e9 banche attraverso le quali effettuare i pagamenti. N\u00e4geli svilupp\u00f2 quindi diverse procedure: vendeva spartiti di editori francesi o tedeschi come contropartita per l'accettazione delle proprie opere, ordinava spartiti per la vendita, come editore su commissione o in prestito per prestarli ai cittadini.<\/p>\n<p>N\u00e4geli non ebbe mai una formazione completa come musicista, compositore o uomo d'affari. Oltre alle guerre napoleoniche, fu probabilmente a causa di questa circostanza che ispir\u00f2 molto, ma anche che fall\u00ec: la sua casa editrice and\u00f2 in bancarotta ed egli la vendette ad Adolf Hug. Nacque cos\u00ec la casa editrice Hug.<\/p>\n<p>Ciononostante, il pioniere N\u00e4geli raggiunse risultati impressionanti, come sottolinea Roner. Nel campo dell'istruzione, introdusse sistematicamente i giovani alla musica con libri di testo sapientemente strutturati, tenendo conto anche delle classi inferiori. Spesso si dimentica che N\u00e4geli prest\u00f2 attenzione alle donne tanto quanto agli uomini.<\/p>\n<p>Le parti pi\u00f9 interessanti della ricerca di Roner sono la seconda parte, dedicata a \"N\u00e4geli come commerciante ed editore di musica\", e la terza parte sul \"Sing-Institut\". L'ampia appendice con una cronaca dettagliata e un indice completo delle fonti \u00e8 preziosa.
