La piccola partita corale fu composta all'inizio del 1975 come lavoro commissionato per una raccolta di musica d'organo per le funzioni religiose; tuttavia, furono pubblicati solo l'intonazione, il movimento corale e la variazione 1, mentre le due restanti variazioni non furono incluse a causa delle loro complesse armonie e quindi appaiono qui in stampa per la prima volta. Secondo un commento online del figlio di Anton Heiller su una registrazione dell'opera da parte dell'editore, il brano sembra riflettere lo stato mentale del compositore, caratterizzato da malattia e crescente stanchezza.<\/p>\n<p>Una breve intonazione (manualiter) introduce un movimento corale, che in questo paese dovrebbe essere adattato ritmicamente alla versione dell'innario riformato per un'esecuzione alternatim con strofe cantate. Una prima variazione, molto espressiva, accompagna la melodia con una controvoce in frasi di sospiro espressive e talvolta molto distese. La seconda variazione \u00e8 un movimento un po' strano, simile a una danza, in tempo 6\/8, che integra le prime due battute del corale. Si conclude con un movimento corale corposo e armonicamente robusto in un potente forte. Grazie alle sue richieste tecniche non particolarmente elevate e alla sua adattabilit\u00e0 a strumenti piccoli con uno o due manuali e pedale, la breve opera di Heiller \u00e8 un'aggiunta pratica e quindi molto gradita al repertorio.
