St\u00fcssi era \"zurighese\" e frequent\u00f2 la scuola di musica di Zurigo; Lothar Kempter e Fritz Hegar furono i suoi insegnanti. In seguito fu raggiunto a Berlino da Max Bruch. Dalla sua casa di W\u00e4denswil, St\u00fcssi domin\u00f2 a lungo il panorama musicale del lago di Zurigo.<\/p>\n<p>Ha lasciato un'ampia opera fortemente radicata nella tradizione romantica. Si \u00e8 concentrato soprattutto su opere sacre come cantate e mottetti. Gli spartiti sono conservati presso la Zentralbibliothek Z\u00fcrich.<\/p>\n<p>La sua opera pi\u00f9 importante \u00e8 l'oratorio, presentato per la prima volta a W\u00e4denswil nel 1914 e della durata di circa trenta minuti. <em>Decadenza e resurrezione, <\/em>che \u00e8 ora disponibile presso Claves insieme al libro <em>Salmo 28<\/em> e altri brevi pezzi. St\u00fcssi non era un drammaturgo, ma piuttosto un compositore fortemente radicato nella religiosit\u00e0 protestante che si confrontava coraggiosamente con i suoi modelli di riferimento. Inizia il suo oratorio con \"Tutta la carne \u00e8 come l'erba\", che Brahms scrisse nella <em>Requiem tedesco<\/em> in uno dei movimenti pi\u00f9 toccanti. Nell'opera di St\u00fcssi, \u00e8 il basso che inizia con un commovente recitativo dopo alcune battute di introduzione orchestrale. Il modello di Mendelssohn con il <em>Elias<\/em> \u00e8 inconfondibile, lo stile incalzante ricorda fortemente anche quello di Wagner. <em>Parsifal<\/em>. Tuttavia, St\u00fcssi \u00e8 in grado di costruire un inizio promettente solo in frammenti.<\/p>\n<p>Per lunghi tratti, i solisti dominano l'azione recitativa, che a volte sembra un po' uniforme, anche se le voci pi\u00f9 basse in particolare sono formidabili con Ingeborg Danz (contralto) e Kre\u0161imir Stra\u017eanac (basso). Magnifico anche il modo in cui la Z\u00fcrcher Sing-Akademie diretta da Florian Helgath celebra i passaggi corali con un'eccezionale cultura vocale.<\/p>\n<p>\u00c8 un peccato che il CD sia integrato da altri brevi brani corali di stile simile, il che rende l'ascolto un po' stancante. St\u00fcssi ha certamente altre cose da offrire, come la suite in do minore, che il Quartetto Avalon ha gi\u00e0 eseguito.<\/p>\n<p><em>Rosso.<\/em> Il cortometraggio documentario offre una visione della sua vita e del suo lavoro <em>Fritz St\u00fcssi -<\/em> <em>Dove si va<\/em> di Esther Kempf e Julia Ann St\u00fcssi, da vedere su YouTube.
