Nel XIX secolo, il pittore paesaggista Alexandre Calame descrisse la zona di Brunnen, nel cantone di Svitto, e la vista sul lago di Uri come \"Le plus beau pays du monde\". E questo ricorda il detto del violinista tedesco Wolfgang Schneiderhan su Dreilinden a Lucerna: \"Il posto pi\u00f9 bello mai dato a un conservatorio\". Musica e paesaggio sembrano interagire, sia a Brunnen che a Lucerna. Tuttavia, Othmar Schoeck non ha mai studiato a Lucerna - il conservatorio \u00e8 stato fondato solo nel 1952 - ma a Zurigo e Lipsia (con Max Reger).<\/p>\n

Suo padre, il pittore Alfred Schoeck, anch'egli figlio di un ricco commerciante di seta di Basilea, visit\u00f2 Brunnen nel 1870, vi spos\u00f2 la figlia dell'albergatore Agathe Fassbind e si fece costruire uno studio e una casa sul \"G\u00fctsch\" con il significativo nome di \"Villa Ruhheim\". Con Agathe ebbe quattro figli: Paul (architetto e drammaturgo), Ralph (professore di ingegneria meccanica e ufficiale), Walter (albergatore a Brunnen e talentuoso violoncellista dilettante) e il compositore e direttore d'orchestra Othmar (1886-1957), il piccolo della famiglia.<\/p>\n

Othmar e i suoi fratelli: \"quattro elementi\".<\/h3>\n

Il regista teatrale Alvaro Schoeck - pronipote del gi\u00e0 citato Alfred - e il musicologo Chris Walton, autore di una tesi di laurea su Othmar Schoeck, hanno pubblicato un libro di accompagnamento per il quinto Festival Othmar Schoeck di Brunnen, in programma dall'inizio di settembre 2023, che fa luce sugli aspetti familiari degli Schoeck e fornisce quindi informazioni sull'ambiente e sulla casa di Othmar. Si va dalle note spiritose della tata, che si riferisce ai figli degli Schoeck come \"i quattro elementi\", al who's who di Brunnen e Ingenbohl del 1900, con il titolo Othmar \u00e8 qui!<\/em> da Katrin Spelinova al frammento di novella Di notte con i fratelli Schoeck<\/em> dello scrittore svittese Meinrad Inglin del 1968.<\/p>\n
