Das \u00abBegleitbuch zum Othmar Schoeck Festival 2021\u00bb ist mehr als nur dies und in gewissem Sinn auch weniger. Die Wahl der Themen, der verhandelten Komponisten hat sich aus den Programmen ergeben, die in den Konzerten des Festivals gespielt wurden. Dennoch sind nur wenige Texte (etwa Heinrich Aernis Einlassungen zu Paul M\u00fcller-Z\u00fcrich, Raffaele d\u2019Alessandro und Hans Schaeuble oder Katrin Spelinovas Interview mit der Komponistin C\u00e9cile Marti) eigentliche Konzerteinf\u00fchrungen.<\/p>\n

Zur Hauptsache enth\u00e4lt das B\u00fcchlein gemischte Essays, die Unterschiedliches wollen: Chris Walton gibt einen gedr\u00e4ngten Abriss seines Buches \u00fcber Richard Flury, Michael Schneider eine Kurzbiografie von Peter Mieg, Cristina Urchuegu\u00eda einen Bericht ihrer Besch\u00e4ftigung mit Walter Furrer, Anselm Gerhard setzt sich in drei Analysen mit verschiedenen Perspektiven von Schoecks Liedkunst auseinander. Stand der Neoklassizismus als Leitstern \u00fcber dem Festivalprogramm, so macht sich das B\u00fcchlein gar nicht die M\u00fche, diesen Bezug voll auszuleuchten oder gar zu Neudeutungen dieses musikhistorisch schwierigen Begriffs vorzustossen. Einzig Sibylle Ehrismanns Portr\u00e4t des Aargauer Komponisten Werner Wehrli stellt diesen Epochenbezug her. Vielmehr entstand eine Sammlung von Texten, die sich erfrischend unaufgeregt zu einem anregenden Lesebuch zur Schweizer Musikgeschichte der ersten H\u00e4lfte des 20. Jahrhunderts zusammenf\u00fcgt. Erg\u00e4nzt werden die Betrachtungen um Interviews, etwa mit Marc Andreae \u00fcber seinen Grossvater, den Dirigenten und Komponisten Volkmar Andreae.<\/p>\n

Wahre Trouvaillen sind indes die Quellentexte, zum einen Arthur Honeggers Souvenirs sur Othmar Schoeck<\/em>, welche den Protagonisten von ungeahnten Seiten zeigen, vor allem aber die beiden einf\u00fchlsamen essayistischen Betrachtungen von Schoecks \u00e4lterem Bruder Walter aus den 1940er-Jahren, die gerade in unseren Tagen auch hierzulande erstaunlich aktuell sind: \u00abVerzweiflung packt michob der Sinnlosigkeit der allgemeinen Vernichtung um Weniger willen [\u2026]. Sind Mozart, Bach, Beethoven und die andern nicht mehr, was sie waren, weil es den Zerst\u00f6rern beliebt, die Welt in einen solchen Zustand der Armut zu versetzen, dass sie um Sicherheit und Brot froh ist und solche zu Trotteln macht, denen ein Gedicht oder ein Lied Erbauung ist [\u2026]. Ich will versuchen, noch etwas zu \u00fcben.\u00bb<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
