Nato e cresciuto a Roma, Pietro Rizzo ha studiato violino prima nella sua citt\u00e0 natale, poi a Siena e a Dallas. Ha poi studiato direzione d'orchestra all'Accademia Sibelius di Helsinki con Jorma Panula e Leif Segerstam. Gli impegni lo hanno portato al Teatro Aalto di Essen come direttore principale, \u00e8 stato direttore principale dell'Opera di G\u00f6teborg ed \u00e8 regolarmente direttore ospite dell'Opera Nazionale Finlandese di Helsinki. Pietro Rizzo debutter\u00e0 al Festival di Bregenz nell'estate del 2026. Tra il 2001 e il 2019 \u00e8 stato professore ospite presso l'International Opera Academy (IOA) di Gand.<\/p>\n

Pietro Rizzo \u00e8 emerso come il chiaro favorito nel corso di diversi mesi in un processo di candidatura in sette fasi contro pi\u00f9 di 30 concorrenti. Prender\u00e0 il posto di Modestas Pitrenas all'inizio della stagione 2026\/27.
