Il malinconico amore musicale di Londra \u00e8 rappresentato in numerose edizioni singole, album e antologie. Ora Martin Hegel ha aggiunto altre 24 trascrizioni per chitarra, progressivamente arrangiate, dai brevi brani strumentali pi\u00f9 leggeri di Dowland a movimenti di danza pi\u00f9 ampi e di media intensit\u00e0. Si tratta di un'edizione per uso pratico, ma meticolosamente orientata alle intavolature originali per liuto. Le deviazioni individuali sono chiaramente segnalate, gli ornamenti sono scritti in forma semplice - ma solo dove ci sono le marcature corrispondenti nell'originale. Sono state aggiunte legature e occasionali marcature di arpeggio. Le diteggiature si basano sul fatto che la terza corda \u00e8 accordata in Fa diesis, analogamente al liuto.<\/p>\n<p>La maggior parte dei brani trascritti da Hegel erano gi\u00e0 stati pubblicati nel 1980 da Karl Scheit, il vecchio maestro austriaco del secolo scorso, nelle sue edizioni <em>John Dowland, Opere solistiche I<\/em> e <em>II<\/em> pubblicato. Un confronto mostra che Scheit, a parte alcune digressioni aggiuntive, si \u00e8 attenuto in modo sorprendente all'originale, cosa che non \u00e8 affatto avvenuta con le edizioni di Dowland pubblicate pi\u00f9 indietro nel tempo.<\/p>\n<p>Anche Dowland, noto pi\u00f9 per le sue canzoni che per le sue opere per liuto, le trasfer\u00ec al liuto solo. Per esempio <em>Il benvenuto a casa di My Lord Willoughby<\/em>che in Scheit e Hegel (cos\u00ec come nel brano <em>Almain di Lady Leighton<\/em>) appare in due diverse versioni strumentali. Interessante per Hegel \u00e8 anche il brano <em>Vieni via,<\/em> che si basa sulla struggente canzone di Dowland <em>Vieni di nuovo, il dolce amore ora invita<\/em> per voce e liuto, ma non con <em>Vieni via, vieni, dolce amore! <\/em>\u00e8 da confondere con.
