La carriera di Lipavsky come pianista-compositore boemo era \"non atipica per il suo tempo\" e, come scrive l'editore Martin Skamletz nella prefazione, \"combinava un'attitudine alla variazione delle melodie d'opera con la conoscenza contrappuntistica\". Nel libro di Carl Czerny <em>Ricordi della mia vita <\/em>Il compositore viene ancora citato alla stregua di Beethoven, e in effetti l'attuale <em>Sonata concertante<\/em> per flauto e pianoforte in sol maggiore, che \u00e8 l'ultima opera di Lipavsky, ha una certa somiglianza con le sonate di Czerny e Beethoven: tutti i movimenti sono concertanti, il pianoforte esegue lunghe introduzioni e transizioni, e gli eventi tematici sono equamente distribuiti tra i due strumenti.<\/p>\n<p>Nel primo movimento, composto in forma di sonata, l'esposizione contiene gi\u00e0 un passaggio in mi bemolle maggiore che ricorda quello di Beethoven. <em>Creature di Prometeo<\/em> che, tuttavia, modula rapidamente di nuovo nella tonalit\u00e0 dominante di re maggiore. Il secondo movimento inizia con un bellissimo tema simile a un'aria, suonato prima dal flauto e poi dal pianoforte, e ricorda un duetto operistico in cui elementi recitativi di entrambe le voci interagiscono tra loro. Il terzo movimento, Rondo, ha un suono molto virtuosistico e quasi umoristico, con le cascate di semicrome della prima parte che scorrono motoristicamente attraverso entrambe le voci, ricordando una composizione di Joseph Haydn con un veloce orologio per flauto. Segue un grande assolo di pianoforte in una sezione intitolata Scherzando, che viene ripresa tematicamente dal flauto, prima che il tema del rond\u00f2 ritorni in una sezione dolce in re maggiore.<\/p>\n<p>La sonata \u00e8 composta per fortepiano e flauto traverso e, poich\u00e9 la tonalit\u00e0 di sol maggiore si adatta bene sia al flauto traverso a una o pi\u00f9 chiavi, \u00e8 facile da suonare.
