Poich\u00e9 gi\u00e0 da piccolo la madre lo aveva destinato a diventare un musicista professionista, nella sua citt\u00e0 natale, Vienna, ricevette lezioni di composizione e di strumento da Johann Nepomuk Hummel, Antonio Salieri, Johann Georg Albrechtsberger e altri. Dal 1813 lavor\u00f2 come apprezzato pianista e insegnante a Leopoli, da dove intraprese un lungo tour europeo e organizz\u00f2 numerosi concerti. Torn\u00f2 a Vienna nel 1838.<\/p>\n<p>La sua opera, che comprende principalmente concerti per pianoforte, poca musica da camera e opere vocali, \u00e8 oggi quasi dimenticata e si ascolta raramente nelle sale da concerto. Una delle sue poche composizioni di musica da camera \u00e8 il movimento di sonata per flauto e pianoforte, pubblicato all'inizio del 1810, nel quale, curiosamente, il titolo <em>Rondo<\/em> non si adatta n\u00e9 alla forma n\u00e9 al carattere della composizione. L'opera, che \u00e8 sopravvissuta solo in forma manoscritta, \u00e8 stata chiamata \"sonata\" dal compositore. \u00c8 il primo movimento di una sonata per flauto incompiuta che Mozart aveva promesso all'editore di Lipsia Johann Gottfried H\u00e4rtel.<\/p>\n<p>Il movimento inizia con una breve introduzione di quattro battute che conduce al tema principale lirico, caratterizzato in gran parte da una calma triade minore legata e seguito dal tema secondario vocale e lirico. Il compositore riempie le transizioni soprattutto con esecuzioni virtuosistiche a ghirlanda. La forma piuttosto compatta e il carattere lirico del brano indussero la critica contemporanea a non descrivere Mozart come un maestro della forma, ma piuttosto \"il suo talento gli consentir\u00e0 probabilmente di trovare maggior successo nei generi in cui sono importanti le melodie aggraziate e lusinghiere\". In una lettera, Mozart stesso descrive il flauto come uno strumento \"che si adatta abbastanza bene al mio temperamento entusiasta\" e descrive il movimento della sonata come \"gentile e cantabile\". La scrittura melodica si avvicina in modo percettibile a Franz Schubert, il che potrebbe avere a che fare con il fatto che entrambi i compositori ebbero come maestro Antonio Salieri, che fu uno dei pionieri del romanticismo viennese.
