Questa tecnica di suonare la batteria \u00e8 emersa a met\u00e0 degli anni '70 ed \u00e8 ancora oggi pi\u00f9 popolare che mai. Ausili didattici come <em>Modelli di funzionamento del tempo<\/em> (1980), <em>Tempo lineare di gioco<\/em> (1993) - entrambi di Gary Chaffee -,<em> Studi avanzati sul Funk<\/em> (1980) di Rick Latham e <em>Suoni del futuro <\/em>(1990) di David Garibaldi hanno trovato rapidamente posto sui leggii di dilettanti e professionisti.<\/p>\n<p>In <em>Dimensione creativa <\/em>il batterista svizzero Charlie Weibel mostra in modo impressionante quali fantastici groove e fills sono possibili con un drumming lineare. Anche gli esercizi preliminari contenuti nel libretto di Weibel sono divertenti e adatti anche ai principianti. Ma poi si entra davvero nel vivo con oltre duecento esempi di one-bar. Ci sono grooves lineari e quasi-lineari che rappresentano stili funk e fusion, ritmi latini e shuffles.<\/p>\n<p>Gli esercizi e i ritmi di <em>Dimensione creativa<\/em> ricordano le opere dei protagonisti sopra citati, ai quali l'autore dice di ispirarsi fortemente. Rick Latham potrebbe essere stato l'ispiratore della scelta della forma di notazione, in cui le battute suonate simultaneamente sono annotate sotto un gambo rivolto verso l'alto. Un ulteriore vantaggio di questa forma di notazione \u00e8 che riesce a gestire quasi senza pause; i ritmi sono quindi facili da decifrare.<\/p>\n<p>Charlie Weibel ha deliberatamente evitato lunghi passaggi di testo e spiegazioni lessicali, con grande beneficio per il libretto. Come supplemento, presenta sei assoli impegnativi tratti dal suo libretto del 2001 <em>Spettro di tamburi<\/em>. Il CD allegato contiene ben 150 campioni sonori. Le registrazioni impressionano per la loro precisione di registrazione e la ricchezza del suono.
