Certo, c'\u00e8 molto da criticare in questa raccolta di dieci pezzi di carattere (...). Ma una forza creativa ingegnosa e originale, di fronte alla quale ogni critica deve tacere, imprime a questi pezzi il timbro dell'unicit\u00e0 assoluta\". Klaus Wolters l'ha detto pi\u00f9 succintamente di quanto non abbia fatto decenni fa nel suo tuttora ineguagliato <em>Manuale di letteratura pianistica <\/em>(Atlantis, Zurigo, 5a edizione 2001), il fascino che esercitava il libro di Mussorgsky <em>Immagini di una mostra<\/em> difficilmente formulare.<\/p>\n<p>In linea con l'importanza dell'opera, B\u00e4renreiter-Verlag ha ora pubblicato un Urtext eccezionalmente ricco di annotazioni. La prefazione del curatore Christoph Flamm, con informazioni sulla genesi dell'opera, riflessioni dettagliate sulle singole immagini e suggerimenti pratici per l'esecuzione, \u00e8 affascinante da leggere e va ben oltre quanto pubblicato dalle edizioni precedenti.<br \/>\n\u00c8 ovvio che con tanto materiale ci saranno anche delle contraddizioni, come l'affermazione che l'opera non \u00e8 adatta all'orchestrazione, sostenuta dalla pungente osservazione di Sviatoslav Richter: \"Rifiuto la versione orchestrale di quest'opera e la odio...\". Anche la correzione di alcuni \"errori\" nel testo musicale a volte butta via il bambino con l'acqua sporca. La nuova lettura della battuta 17 della prima Promenade, ad esempio, sarebbe semplicemente troppo assurda anche per l'idiosincratico Mussorgsky (una a sarebbe probabilmente pi\u00f9 appropriata). Tuttavia, la scrittura del compositore \u00e8 ambigua).<\/p>\n<p>Il testo musicale stesso, completamente privo di diteggiature, convince per la sua chiarezza e la sua visione d'insieme. L'appendice contiene alcune illustrazioni in bianco e nero degli originali di Viktor Hartmann, che l'opera intendeva commemorare. Se volete trovare ancora pi\u00f9 consigli pratici sull'interpretazione, vi consigliamo l'edizione Urtext di Vienna di Manfred Schandert e Vladimir Ashkenazy. L'esperienza di Ashkenazy con il <em>Immagini di una mostra <\/em>Sia come pianista che come direttore d'orchestra e redattore della sua versione orchestrale lo predestinano ad andare a fondo delle cose.
