Grazie agli sviluppi tecnici di Theobald B\u00f6hm, a met\u00e0 del XIX secolo emerse una nuova generazione di flautisti che utilizzarono il loro virtuosismo per vestire la musica popolare, come i \"successi operistici\" dell'epoca, con parafrasi e fantasie efficaci. Da un lato, Pahud intende riportare in vita questi pezzi di bravura, alcuni dei quali caduti nell'oblio, nella versione originale per flauto e pianoforte; dall'altro, ha riconosciuto che sono adatti anche come concerti per flauto, per cui ha fatto preparare a Yoel Gamzou un accompagnamento orchestrale per tutte le opere.<\/p>\n<p>Con il<em> Fantasia su \"La Traviata<\/em> sono i popolari arrangiamenti dei famosi flautisti italiani Emanuele Krakamp e Giulio Briccialdi, entrambi attivi anche come compositori. Per la nuova edizione, Yoel Gamzou ha unito le due versioni in un unico insieme. Le singole sezioni iniziano sempre con temi familiari, che vengono presto abbelliti con ghirlande.<\/p>\n<p>Il <em>Fantasia su \"Rigoletto<\/em> per due flauti e pianoforte \u00e8 stata composta dai fratelli Karl e Franz Doppler, che nel XIX secolo erano famosi a livello internazionale come virtuosi itineranti del flauto e probabilmente eseguivano questo brano durante le loro tourn\u00e9e concertistiche. La fantasia contiene anche la famosa aria per soprano <em>Caro nome di lui si \u00e8 amato<\/em>che nell'opera \u00e8 suonato da due flauti nel lento tema iniziale. Le due parti di flauto sono spesso abilmente condotte in sesta dolce e si alternano al tema e all'orchestrazione virtuosa, in modo che due parti strumentali uguali si fronteggino. Questa fantasia \u00e8 anche graduata dinamicamente in modo interessante e ha quindi un effetto molto colorato.<\/p>\n<p>L'elaborazione del <em>Aria di Lensky dall'opera \"Eugene Onegin\" di Tchaikovsky,<\/em> la cui gamma si estende da un si basso a un do di quattro note, vive pi\u00f9 della sua melodia espressiva che di passaggi virtuosistici. La versione risale a un arrangiamento degli anni Venti di Leopold Auer per violino e pianoforte ed \u00e8 stata rivista da Guy Braunstein, attuale concertatore dei Berliner Philharmoniker, e pubblicata per flauto e pianoforte.
