Fonte: wikimedia commons<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<div class=\"text-section\">\n<p>Il re prussiano Federico II (1712-1786) pubblic\u00f2 numerose composizioni per il suo strumento. Scriveva alla sorella Guglielmina delle sue opere con entusiasmo e umorismo, e dalla corrispondenza si evince anche che Federico riceveva talvolta l'aiuto di compositori di corte come Carl Heinrich Graun, Johann Joachim Quantz e Johann Friedrich Agricola. Durante la vita di Federico, le sue opere furono sistematicamente registrate dai copisti di corte, ma la maggior parte delle copie and\u00f2 perduta. Nel 1889, il copista di Bach Philipp Spitta pubblic\u00f2 un'edizione di 25 sonate del re prussiano, di cui quasi la met\u00e0 erano tra le sue ultime opere.<\/p>\n<p>La maggior parte delle sonate di Friedrich sono in quattro movimenti nell'ordine lento-veloce-lento-veloce, come era comune per la maggior parte degli altri compositori della corte berlinese, come Quantz, Benda e Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach. I primi movimenti lenti sono per lo pi\u00f9 di natura ingraziante, riccamente ornati, spesso lirici e con uno stile retorico. Il primo movimento della primissima Sonata per flauto in la minore Sp. 21 contiene un recitativo strumentale. Friedrich potrebbe aver inteso il primo movimento cantabile della Sonata in do maggiore come un omaggio al suo maestro Johann Joachim Quantz, che aveva composto il primo movimento della sua Sonata in do maggiore in modo simile. La Sonata in si bemolle maggiore Sp. 76 inizia addirittura con un ampio Largo in si bemolle minore prima di raggiungere il si bemolle maggiore nella seconda met\u00e0 del brano. Nel lento movimento d'apertura della Sonata in si minore Sp. 83, lo stile sensibile di C. Ph. Ph. E. Bach, ad esempio. Le composizioni di Friedrich rivelano la tendenza a rendere le sonate sempre pi\u00f9 lunghe e tecnicamente pi\u00f9 impegnative. Il fatto che il re, che eseguiva al flauto traverso un repertorio di circa 290 concerti e 150 sonate di Quantz, dovesse avere egli stesso doti estremamente virtuosistiche \u00e8 dimostrato dalla Sonata in si minore Sp. 83, che, ad esempio, contiene passaggi velocissimi nel secondo movimento Allegretto con salti fino a tre note di mi e fa diesis, annotati in 32\u00b0.
