Sposata con il ricco vedovo Albert Domange, di 25 anni pi\u00f9 anziano di lei, con cinque figli, ai quali diede altri quattro figli, ebbe poco tempo per la musica. Tuttavia, riusc\u00ec a pubblicare diverse opere sotto lo pseudonimo di Mel Bonis (le donne compositrici non erano prese sul serio all'epoca; dovette finanziare lei stessa alcune edizioni) con Leduc ed Eschig. Verso la fine del secolo, Hettich la incoraggi\u00f2 a ritornare a un'intensa attivit\u00e0 musicale, anche a livello di premi (divenne persino segretaria della Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 des Compositeurs). Riusc\u00ec a tenere segreta la figlia fino al 1914. Durante la Prima guerra mondiale, si impegn\u00f2 ad aiutare gli orfani e i prigionieri di guerra. Nonostante la depressione, continu\u00f2 a comporre instancabilmente fino alla fine della sua vita. Le sue 300 opere per pianoforte, organo, ensemble da camera, voce e orchestra possono competere con il calibro di Faur\u00e9 e Chausson, ma sono state ingiustamente dimenticate.<\/p>\n<p>Per i tre movimenti <em>Suite <\/em>del 1926, il cui manoscritto \u00e8 stato ritrovato nell'archivio di famiglia, si ispira alla vita in campagna del compositore: I <em>Giorno di festa<\/em> sorprende con motivi in levare frizzanti e sincopati in cui i due strumenti si susseguono. Un intermezzo pi\u00f9 vocale \u00e8 concluso da un galoppo. II <em>Sous la ram\u00e9e<\/em> \u00e8 un'estesa fantasticheria, che fluttua con sicurezza tra i tasti. III <em>Cort\u00e8ge champ\u00eatre <\/em>ritorna al Do maggiore del I con molte modulazioni fantasiose, che ricordano una parata di majorette dal passo leggero.
