Le miniature, che richiedono circa quattro minuti di esecuzione, dimostrano che l'artista \u00e8 affascinato anche dalle formazioni vocali pi\u00f9 piccole. <em>Notte bassa e luna<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Le richieste al cantante non consistono principalmente nel centrare le note, che non sembrano astratte nemmeno in armonia con il violoncello; le marcature dinamiche - comprese tra pppp e mp - sono impegnative, le note escono dal nulla o scompaiono nel nulla. Inoltre, il contralto o la voce femminile (preferibilmente un mezzo) deve suonare i crotali (piccoli cimbali), nel primo movimento con un arco da contrabbasso, nel secondo con spazzole metalliche.<\/p>\n<p>I testi sono chiamati \"boutades\". (Le ariose creazioni di parole come \"Blattanbeter\" o \"Windverehrer\" sono composte in modo coerente; solo nel terzo movimento il compositore rinuncia completamente al testo e assegna alla voce un vocalizzo sottovoce, corrispondente al verso del testo musicato: \"Ich lausch dem Winde, schweigend und versonnen\".
