Una ragione sufficiente perch\u00e9 l'Ultraschallfestival di Berlino gli dedichi un concerto-ritratto. Sotto la direzione di Johannes Kalitzke, il 23 gennaio il Klangforum Wien ha presentato tre opere per grande ensemble di Pelzel. La registrazione del concerto sar\u00e0 pubblicata anche come CD ritratto nell'edizione Zeitgen\u00f6ssische Musik del Consiglio musicale tedesco. Le cose stanno andando bene a Berlino per il compositore svizzero, che nel 2011 ha ricevuto il Premio Busoni dall'Accademia delle Arti. In occasione della cerimonia di premiazione, Enno Poppe ha elogiato la capacit\u00e0 di Pelzel di trasformare le influenze pi\u00f9 diverse in qualcosa di personale. Il concerto all'Hebbeltheater am Ufer di Berlino ha testimoniato ancora una volta questa qualit\u00e0.<\/p>\n<p>Sul palcoscenico aperto a scatola nera non c'erano solo archi e fiati, ma anche tre percussionisti con vari strumenti, un pianoforte preparato e una celesta. Il Klangforum ha presentato il primo pezzo con una dinamica impressionante,<em> ... lungo la 101 ...<\/em>del 2008, in cui Michael Pelzel esplora musicalmente la famosa Highway 101 della costa occidentale americana. In questo brano, i suoni dell'ensemble si accumulano fino a formare dense nuvole, immagini e superfici, come in un viaggio variegato. In effetti, sembrano penetrare echi di musica popolare americana: per un momento pu\u00f2 sembrare country, come una banda di ottoni, ma si \u00e8 gi\u00e0 sfrecciati oltre questo tratto di strada.<\/p>\n<p>Anche in <em>... sentiers tortueux ...<\/em> del 2007, che si traduce con \"sentieri tortuosi\", l'ascoltatore si immagina in un viaggio movimentato. Ancora una volta emergono paesaggi sonori molto densi che coinvolgono l'intero ensemble, per poi diradarsi nuovamente ed enfatizzare le sottigliezze dei singoli gruppi strumentali - i due pianoforti accordati a intervalli di sesta nota o i fiati che sfumano nel nulla.<\/p>\n<p>La ricchezza di Pelzel e la sua capacit\u00e0 di far emergere i pi\u00f9 diversi colori tonali dall'ensemble senza alcun ausilio elettronico sono emerse anche nell'ultimo brano.<em> Blocco sempiterno<\/em> (2012-14) si fa notare. In esso elabora un'altra esperienza di viaggio, quella di un soggiorno di studio in Sudafrica. L\u00ec ha imparato la particolare tecnica esecutiva del lock-in, un modo speciale di suonare strumenti a percussione con pi\u00f9 persone contemporaneamente, in modo da rendere udibili ulteriori ritmi nei sovratoni. Anche in <em>Blocco sempiterno<\/em> Michael Pelzel ha dimostrato la sua capacit\u00e0 di far convivere influenze diverse come le impressioni provenienti dall'Africa con il suo amore per la musica del XIX secolo. Ricca di variet\u00e0, densa, bidimensionale eppure a tratti sottile, l'immagine di un paesaggio in continuo cambiamento \u00e8 stata creata anche qui. Il pezzo \u00e8 culminato in un finale impressionante, quasi pomposo, che ha lasciato il pubblico senza parole e meravigliato da questo linguaggio musicale unico e sfaccettato.<\/p>\n<p>Il pubblico ha applaudito con entusiasmo il ritratto.
