Nel 1946 ricevette una borsa di studio di cinque anni dal governo francese, che gli permise di proseguire gli studi a Parigi con Arthur Honegger e Nadia Boulanger.<\/p>\n<p>Il nuovo regime comunista di Praga annull\u00f2 il suo passaporto nel 1949. Un invito gli permise di partire per gli Stati Uniti nel 1954. Qui insegn\u00f2 composizione alla Cornell University di New York e all'Ithaca College di New York fino al 1992. <\/p>\n<p>Husa ha ricevuto riconoscimenti a livello mondiale e numerosi premi per il suo lavoro compositivo. Ad esempio, il suo Quartetto per archi n. 3 \u00e8 stato insignito del Premio Pulitzer per la musica e il suo Concerto per violoncello del Premio Grawemeyer. La sua Musica per Praga 1968 \u00e8 diventata un'opera standard nel repertorio moderno dell'orchestra di fiati.
